Everton legend Duncan Ferguson is reportedly set to take over as the manager of Glentoran.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, one of the most "extraordinary appointments in Irish League Football" is set to be confirmed in the coming days.
As a player, Ferguson was renowned for his aggressive style of play and he enjoyed great success in a 16-year career that featured spells at Dundee United, Rangers, Everton and Newcastle United.
As far as his managerial career is concerned, the 54-year-old has had two interim spells at Everton, but struggled in his permanent role at Forest Green Rovers and was sacked after winning just once in 18 games.
A spell at a struggling Inverness Caledonian Thistle followed and Ferguson left after the club was put into administration.
Should 'Big Dunc' make the move to Glentoran, he will be joining a NIFL Premiership side that are one of only three that have never been relegated and have won an incredible 130 major honours during their 144-year history.
The East Belfast club have been on the hunt for a new manager since Declan Devine's two-and-a-half year spell ended in mid-September after a tricky start to the new season.
