Everton are rivalling Newcastle and Leeds for the signing of German striker Nicolo Tresoldi, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for his side Club Brugge this season, netting nine times in 12 matches for the 20-time Belgian champions.
Tresoldi thrust himself into the limelight last week when he helped himself to a stunning UEFA Champions League hat-trick against Inter Milan in the San Siro.
TEAMTalk have reported that multiple Premier League clubs are now in for the German U21 international, with Everton intending to bring in a new forward as early as January.
The Toffees failed in their attempts to sign a striker over the summer after a move for Monaco marksman Folarin Balogun spectacularly collapsed on transfer deadline day. A deal to bring in Joshua Zirkzee also fell by the wayside, leaving David Moyes with Thierno Barry as his only recognised centre forward.
Barry, 24, performed well in the role so far this season, scoring three times in seven starts.
Reinforcements will be needed if Everton are to mount a challenge for European places, however, and Tresoldi has emerged as their main target.
As well as his prolific record for Club Brugge -- 32 goals in 70 games -- his record at youth level for Germany is also impressive; bagging 15 times in 21 appearances, including a hat-trick against Malta in September.
Born in Italy, Tresoldi moved to Germany in his early teens, joining the Hannover academy before playing over 70 times for Die Roten.
Competition for his signature is expected to be high heading into the new year, with widespread reports linking him to several destinations across Europe, as well as multiple Premier League clubs, including reigning champions Arsenal.
