Barcelona edged a seven-goal thriller the last time the two sides met in May this year, with the result proving decisive in the La Liga title race.
Carlo Ancelotti's side raced into a 2-0 lead with French star Kylian Mbappe netting twice inside the opening quarter of an hour, before the hosts turned the game on its head in scintillating style.
A brace from Raphinha together with goals from Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal had Barca, all in a blistering 25 minute spell, well in the ascendancy at the break, before Mbappe set-up a grandstand finish with a clinically take third 20 minutes from time.
Los Blancos threw everything forward in a late bid to salvage a share of the spoils but it proven in vein as Hansi Flick's troops held on for victory to extend the gap between themselves and their fierce rivals to seven points.
The result also meant Barca had won all four of the El Clasico meetings throughout the campaign, equalling the record they set during the 1982/83 season.
Real Madrid's 11-1 demolition of Barca in June 1943 remains the biggest win in El Clasico history.
The triumph, which came in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, is the only time that one of the two sides have hit double-figures against the other.
The previous record win prior to this came in February 1935, where Madrid thrashed their opponents 8-2 in a La Liga fixture - a result which remains the biggest win in a league meeting between the pair to this day.
Barcelona's most emphatic triumph took place during the 1950/51 campaign when they ran out 7-2 victors at the Camp Nou.
