Athletic Club has reached an agreement with Edin Terzić for the German manager to take charge of the first team for the next two seasons, with a contract running until 30th June 2028.
In an official statement, Athletic club announced the German's arrival, stating that: "Edin Terzić will be the manager of Athletic Club for the next two seasons."
Terzić will replace Ernesto Valverde, who recently announced his departure from the club via their official social media page.
Valverde's exit after 10 seasons at the helm over three different spells prompted a search for a new manager at San Mamés, which has now concluded.
The 43-year-old German coach has managed Borussia Dortmund in two separate stints.
During his time at BVB, he won the German Cup in 2021, came agonizingly close to securing the Bundesliga title in 2023 and led the team to the UEFA Champions League final in 2024.
His experience also includes roles within the academy and as sporting director at the Westphalian club, as well as assistant coaching positions at Premier League side West Ham and Turkish Super Lig side Beşiktaş.
The new manager will be officially presented at the end of the current season, which still has four crucial and exciting matches remaining.
Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola had been strongly linked with the role, while Terzic had also been linked with the vacant manager role at Chelsea.
Athletic Club currently sit eighth in the La Liga standings, three points off sixth place Celta Vigo, who currently occupy the final European place, with just four games left this season.
