Eddie Hearn's 'no words' admission as Katie Taylor's Croke Park dream edges closer to reality

Eddie Hearn is set to announce details surrounding Katie Taylor's boxing farewell on Friday with the Irish sensation finally set to fulfill her lifelong Croke Park dream.

The Irish boxing icon has long sought a showdown at the fabled Gaelic venue although despite her wishes, promoter Eddie Hearn has, up until now, been unable to help realise his fighter's ambition.

However, that appears to be on the brink of changing, with the Matchroom CEO announcing on Wednesday that major news will be made public at the end of the week.

Posting on his official social media platforms, Hearn said: "No words 🥺 See you Friday."

Taylor's long-term promoter's post was also accompanied by a branded Matchroom graphic, featuring the wording, 'IT'S TIME - Major announcement Friday | Croke Park | 2PM".

It's understood that the announcement will official confirm plans for Taylor to fight at Croke Park later this summer, with Flora Pili being mooted as the Bray fighter's final professional opponent.

Taylor has been ordered by the WBC to lock horns with the unbeaten French operator for their vacant super-lightweight world title after Sandy Ryan relinquished her title after falling pregnant.

"The WBC congratulates Sandy Ryan on her pregnancy and wishes her all the best. As champion in recess, she will always have the support of the WBC during this process,” the sanctioning body posted on social media.

"The vacant WBC super lightweight championship will be on the line when Katie Taylor faces Flora Pili."

Despite the WBC's stance though, it remains to be seen as to whether the unbeaten French star will be standing in the opposite corner to Taylor in Dublin, with the 39-year-old not contractually bound to the WBC's mandatory order.

Hearn has previously gone on record suggesting that Taylor would call time upon her distinguished and glittering career should she fail in her bid to fight at Croke Park.

"Croke Park or bust," her promoter Eddie Heard told Sky Sports earlier this year. "[If] it's not happening, I think she'd go: 'I'm done'."

Thankfully, it now appears as though the generational fighter will sign off her career in fairy tale fashion.
