More than two years have passed since Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing went head to head in Saudi Arabia.
After years of battling for supremacy in the domestic scene, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren each put forward five fighters to represent them inside the ring.
Ultimately on the night it was Warren that won out as Queensberry claimed a clean sweep. Zhilei Zhang, Daniel Dubois, Hamzah Sheeraz, Nick Ball and Willy Hutchinson all got their hand raised to hand Warren bragging rights.
According to Hearn however, the time is right for a rematch, this time hosted in the UK.
The Matchroom Boxing chief revealed that discussions are already ongoing, and detailed his desire to exact revenge against his longtime rival.
"We have started negotiations with Queensbury about another 5v5, and it’s a mouthwatering. Actually, not 5v5, it’s 7v7,” Hearn told iFL TV.
He continued: "These discussions started two or three days ago. But to be fair, I’m like, 'Listen, we got spanked 5-nil, right? Run it back. Give us another chance.'
"And now I think everybody’s ready. And this one will be even bigger than the first one. This will have a much more domestic slant on it as well for the UK, and it’ll be in London, obviously. It’ll be in the UK."
Hearn added that multiple potential showdowns are already under consideration, with a rematch between Callum Smith and Joshua Buatsi potentially serving as the headline bout.
Matchroom's Smith handed Buatsi his first defeat as a professional when they when they met in an instant classic last year with the WBO interim light-heavyweight title on the line.
Other fights identified by Hearn as potentially suitable for the upcoming event include a heavyweight clash between Johnny Fisher and former world title challenger Dillian Whyte, undefeated prospect Giorgio Visioli against British lightweight champion Louie O'Doherty and George Liddard against Denzel Bentley.
