Some of the world's best athletes head to Scotland for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
A total of 215 gold medals across a reduced slate of 10 core sports will be up for grabs over the 10 days of action in Glasgow, which takes on hosting duties just 12 years after hosting its first Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will be appearing in the Games, of which 83 will be representing Team England.
Commonwealth Games Prize Money
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) does not offer prize money to athletes for winning medals at the Commonwealth Games.
However, like in the Olympics, some international federations will provide financial rewards for athletes that achieve a medal at the Games. The payouts will vary depending on which nation the athlete represents.
In 2022, India's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports previously offered cash incentives reaching up to ₹20,00,000 INR (approx. £15,400) for gold, ₹15,00,000 INR (approx. £11,600) for silver, and ₹10,00,000 INR (approx. £7,745) for bronze.
The Singapore National Olympic Council provides one of the most lucrative financial rewards for their athletes with up to $20,000 SGD available for a Commonwealth Games gold.
Athletes representing England, Wales and Scotland do not receive prize money based on performance at the Games, or indeed medals, with UK Sport instead providing an annual stipend per athlete to cover living costs and training expenses.
