Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles could be set for a move away from the club as Manchester City step up their interest.
The Premier League side are in the market for a new goalkeeper to challenge current number one Gianluigi Donnarumma next season.
Second choice stopper James Trafford is likely to leave the club this summer following interest from Newcastle United.
Trafford rejoined the Citizens last summer from Burnley with the belief that he was arriving as the number one goalkeeper.
However, Donnarumma's subsequent arrival meant that Trafford's gametime was limited and he is now set to move on.
TEAMtalk have reported that Man City have had a long-standing interest in Charles and that they could be looking to secure a deal in the near future.
Like Trafford last summer, the potential signing of Charles would see another goalkeeper go back to his roots.
Charles was part of the City youth system before he opted to join Sheffield Wednesday as a 16-year-old in 2021.
Now 20, Charles has already made 36 appearances for the Owls, including 21 outings in all competitions last season.
He has also been able to establish himself as the number one for Northern Ireland and has already featured on 12 occasions for his country.
Wednesday are looking to build a squad capable of challenging for League One promotion and an immediate return to the Championship next season.
Whilst the loss of Charles would be a blow, they will be hoping to secure a sizeable fee if he does move to the top-flight in the next couple of weeks.
