Dirk van Duijvenbode to beat Luke Woodhouse (11/10)

Luke Woodhouse is a very good TV player now and has really started to show plenty of consistency to his game.

However, he is coming up against an opponent in Dirk van Duijvenbode who has been in really good form of late, and knows that if he starts well possesses the scoring power to put Woodhouse to the sword.

This is, in truth, a tough game to call, but I just feel Dirk will come out all guns blazing and keep his European Championship title ambitions intact.

Gerwyn Price to beat Rob Cross (8/15)

Gerwyn Price really seems to have the bit between his teeth again right now and that doesn't bode well for Rob Cross.

We all know the quality Rob boasts, but given his recent form, and the fact that he has had to pull out of recent events due to personal reasons, I just think Gezzy will have too much in his locker here.

It's not a forgone conclusion, of course, and the match could go deep, but I am backing the Welshman to come good and advance.

Gian van Veen to beat Andrew Gilding (3/10)

My banker for the opening night of play in Dortmund -- Gian van Veen to beat Andrew Gilding.

World Darts Championship runner-up Van Veen is finding his best form at the right time and this is a good opening assignment to get him up and running in Germany.

Gilding has struggled recently, especially on the TV, and I can't see anything other than a routine victory for the Dutchman.

Ross Smith to beat Karel Sadlacek (4/7)

Ross Smith is in the form of his life right now and he enters the event as the number one seed.

Providing the pressure doesn't get on top of him, this is another event in which he could really do well in.

Karel Sadlacek is a cool customer, he is playing well himself and won on the Pro Tour not too long ago, but I have a feeling he will fall at the first hurdle here with Smudger instead earning a spot in the last 16.
