Sean Dyche is reportedly on Crystal Palace's list of targets in the event that Pierre Sage is sacked by the club.
The Eagles have made an underwhelming start to the new Premier League season under the stewardship of the former Lens boss.
They headed into the international break with just four points from their opening five games and they are a point above the relegation zone.
They return to action on Sunday afternoon with the visit of a Nottingham Forest side managed by none other than Oliver Glasner.
Despite the new season still being in its infancy, there are already murmurings of discontent as Sage looks to build on the fine work of his predecessor Glasner.
Football Insider have reported that Dyche is high up on the list of potential contenders to be the next Crystal Palace manager.
Dyche has long been admired by Palace chairman Steve Parish and he remains out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in February.
The 55-year-old has admitted that he is enjoying his current media work, but the door to return to management remains open.
Dyche spent the best part of a decade with Burnley where he twice led the club into the Premier League, but he has experienced difficult situations at both Everton and Forest in recent times.
The chance to join a club who are not in any immediate danger could appeal to Dyche, but for now all eyes will be on Sage and whether he can start picking up points when the season resumes.
