Bevan French has been included in Wigan's Challenge Cup final squad to take on Hull Kingston Rovers at Wembley.
Much of the talk in the build-up has been around French's inclusion in Wigan's initial 21-man squad despite initially being sidelined for four months with a hamstring injury back in March.
How fit French actually is remains to be seen. Jack Farrimond and Harry Smith start in the halves with Jai Field at full-back, with French named on the bench alongside Ethan Havard, Kaide Ellis and Patrick Mago.
There were suggestions that French had been included as a red herring more than anything else considering he wasn't supposed to be fit until July, but Jai Field revealed on Friday that French had been training for a couple of weeks.
Robins captain Elliot Minchella was unequivocal when asked if he 'definitely' thought French would play, and the stand-off is set to start from the bench at Wembley.
French has been a significant miss for the Warriors since picking up a hamstring injury against Toulouse Olympique.
Without the Australian, Wigan's only three Super League wins have come at home to York Knights, Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos, suffering shock defeats to Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers, as well as Warrington Wolves and of course last week's battering by Saturday's opponents.
There was also a surprise in the Hull KR team, with Bill Leyland named on the bench for the Robins. Leyland has spent time away from Craven Park this season, memorably joining St Helens on a week-long loan for their Good Friday clash with Wigan, only to come off the bench and turn the game on its head.
