Given the undoubted gulf in quality between the Premier League and Championship it's no surprise to see the three recently promoted teams all odds-on to plummet through the top-flight trap door come next May.
Hull City at 1/4 together with 4/6 shots Coventry City and Ipswich Town are the clear and obvious favourites to be plying their trade back in the second tier in 12 months time.
But somewhat surprisingly, just one of the trio features in the top three best-backed teams to be relegated at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
Hull had been tipped to struggle in the Championship a year ago, only to then go and make a mockery of that by reaching the promised land courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the play-off final.
They look a relative shoo-in to be struggling towards the foot of the table this term though, with 6.9% of customers finding enough reason to back them despite their seriously short price.
Newcastle United on the other hand have been installed as 8/1 outsiders for relegation; odds that appear to have caught the imagination of plenty of punters looking for a value play.
A staggering 46.8% of customers wagering on the Premier League relegation market have backed the North East club, who are undoubtedly going through a transition period, for the drop.
Long gone are the steady days of Eddie Howe following his departure earlier this summer, with rookie boss Matthias Jaissle being handed the high-profile St James' Park reigns at the former Bournemouth boss' expense.
While Newcastle have been active in the summer transfer window, splashing out around £150 million on new signings to help strengthen Jaissle's hand, you can't help but wonder how the departures of the tried and trusted quartet of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier will affect them.
On paper, their more youthful replacements appear to be shrewd, but there's no hiding from the fact that there will be an undoubted weight of expectancy on their shoulders - something that could cripple them as they try to adjust to English football.
Coupled with a new manager at the helm, it wouldn't come as a huge shock to see Newcastle's young stars struggle to acclimatise to the rigorous demands of the Premier League, and, in time, that 8/1 price could prove to have shifted significantly.
Not for the first time in recent seasons, we are also seeing bets on 12/1 Manchester City being relegated flooding in.
Of course, this isn't as a consequence of their drubbing at the hands of Arsenal in the recent Community Shield in Cardiff or as a result of the departures of the high-profile departures of Spanish trio Pep Guardiola, Rodri and Bernardo Silva.
Instead, the near 24% of customers backing them for relegation will more than likely be doing so with one-eye on their ongoing charges for reportedly breaching the Premier League's financial regulations; something that first came to light almost two years ago!
Fulham (4.2%) and fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur (3.0%) have also been backed in the relegation market, although it would come as something of a surprise, especially in Spurs' case, if they were to become embroiled in yet another fight for survival.
"The three promoted teams are expected to find it difficult, but we have seen some eye-catching turnover away from the accumulator business," bet365's Steve Freeth said.
"It has been a challenging summer for Newcastle, with significant changes both on and off the pitch, and we have seen noticeable UK interest in the Tyneside club, with their odds for the drop tumbling from 40/1 to 8/1, taking 46.8% of the UK market.
"Manchester City struggled in the Community Shield and are having to deal with the loss of Pep Guardiola, Rodri, and Bernardo Silva. However, their prominence in the liabilities is likely due to the charges that still linger."
