Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move to sign Al-Qadsiah forward Julian Quinones.
Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the Villans are 'convinced by his level of performance' at the 2026 World Cup and used their scouts to 'oberseve the striker'.
The West Midlands outfit made enquiries to the 'player's entourage' concerning the 'feasibility of a deal'.
While Villa are yet to lodge a formal bid for Quinones, interest is reportedly growing and 'the situation could change in the coming weeks' as Unai Emery looks to bolster his forward line.
Prior to the 2026 World Cup, Quinones had never really impressed on the international stage for Mexico -- scoring just twice in 22 appearances -- but he was amongst the tournament's leading performers in America before Javier Aguirre's side were eliminated in the round of 16.
The forward scored the first goal of the tournament when opening the account in Mexico's 2-0 win against South Africa, before adding to his group stage tally in Matchweek Three against Czechia.
Quinones scored and assisted as Mexico cruised past Ecuador in the round of 32, and while he did find the net against Thomas Tuchel's England in the round of 16, a 3-2 defeat to England at the Azteca marked the end of their journey.
While Quinones was an unknown entity for most heading into the World Cup, avid Saudi Pro League watchers were well aware of his talent beforehand.
The 29-year-old has scored 53 goals and registered nine assists in 59 games since joining Saudi outfit Al-Qadsiah, scoring a remarkable 33 in the 2025/26 top-flight as his side recorded a fourth-placed finish.
It was a 33-goal season that saw him top the division's goalscoring charts, bettering the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ivan Toney and Joao Felix.
Off the back of a phenomenal year at both club and international level, interest in Quinones is expected to ramp up in the coming weeks and Villa may be keen to eliminate competition for his signature.
Morgan Rogers' potential departure could accelerate a move for the forward, but the club remain hell-bent that he is not going anywhere.
