Aston Villa "set sights" on Manchester United and Barcelona linked winger

Aston Villa have reportedly "set sights" on Lille's Manchester United and Barcelona-linked winger Matías Fernández-Pardo.

The 21 year-old, who joined Lille from Genk in his native Belgium for €11.5m in 2024, is the latest winger to be linked with a move to UEFA Champions League side Aston Villa.

The Villans, who finished fourth in the Premier League table last campaign - as well as winning the UEFA Europa League - have been widely linked with an overhaul in their attacking positions this summer.

This would be heightened by an exit for their star man Morgan Rogers, who looks increasingly likely to depart Villa Park this summer, with Arsenal looking like his probable destination.

According to other reports, Aston Villa are in the market for two wide players regardless of Rogers' future at the club, as Unai Emery looks to reshape and evolve his squad.

The latest winger to be linked with a move to the West Midlands is Manchester United and Barcelona target Matías Fernández-Pardo, who had a strong season for Lille last campaign.

According to transfer guru Sacha Tavolieri via Sky Sport, Aston Villa have "set their sights" on a move for the Belgian winger, who is included in the Red Devils' World Cup squad this summer.

The report mentions that the Villans currently have scouts out in the US to watch a number of players competing in the 2026 showpiece, including Fernandez-Pardo.

A fast, physical attacker, who can play on either wing and at striker, the Belgian's profile is similar to that of the potentially outgoing Rogers, with clinical finishing and an ability to run in behind the defence.

The 21 year-old had a breakthrough 2025/26 season scoring eight goals and registering seven assists in all competitions, predominantly off the wing.

Some reports have suggested that Lille could demand a fee of up to €70m for the winger, as they look to keep hold of a number of key young players this summer, including 18 year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi, who has been linked to a host of big clubs this window.

While Fernández-Pardo may be of interest to Aston Villa, there are many doubts as to whether or not the club can or will shell out that level of investment on one player this summer, as they continue to be hamstrung by financial restrictions.
