Newcastle could be without Anthony Elanga for an extended period of time after Matthias Jaissle confirmed that the winger had suffered an injury.
The 24-year-old was a glaring omission in the Newcastle lineup for their trip to Elland Road, with the Magpies falling to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Elland Road. Strikes from Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor added to a Lewis Miley own goal as the Magpies suffered their first loss of the campaign.
Speaking after the match, Jaissle sparked concern over Elanga's fitness, telling reporters that the injury "doesn't look good".

The former Nottingham Forest and Manchester United man will now undergo a series of scans to determine how long he will remain sidelined for.
“Unfortunately, he is injured. We need to investigate further and in more detail to find out how long he will be out," Jaissle said.
“We will miss him and hope he is back to play quickly. It could be [long-term]. We hope not. He will get another MRI next week, and we will see.”
Newcastle welcome unbeaten Hull City to St James' Park in the Premier League this weekend, but then have a near month-long hiatus when players head off for international duty.
Elanga looks as if he will be unavailable for Sweden's Nations League fixtures against Bosnia & Herzegovina, Poland and Romania. This will come as a huge blow to Sweden boss Graham Potter, who has relied heavily on his star winger since taking over as manager in late 2025.
In the immediate term, it looks certain that Elanga will miss the next 2-3 weeks, but further scans are required in order to assess how long he will need to remain sidelined for.
