Leeds United put Newcastle to the sword at Elland Road to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
Both sides entered Monday's clash having picked up five points from their opening three Premier League games but it was the hosts that took the initiative in West Yorkshire.
There was a distinct lack of quality in the early going with chances going amiss for both teams, but Leeds seized control after 32 minutes.
A stroke of luck saw Ao Tanaka's twice deflected strike somehow manage to find its way in and from there Daniel Farke's side were relentless.
Just minutes later Leeds doubled their advantage when Dominic Calvert-Lewin managed to get on the end of an inch-perfect ball from James Justin to send Elland Road into a frenzy.
With momentum on their side Leeds continued to press their advantage as the interval approached and Calvert-Lewin added a third on the brink of half time to effectively put an end to the contest.
After coming close with a pair of chances following the restart the home side added a third goal on the hour mark after a sensational volley from Noah Okafor.
Newcastle managed to regain some pride courtesy of a late consolation from substitute Bazoumana Toure but the damage was already done.
