Alexandra Eala claimed her maiden WTA Tour singles title after a dramatic victory over Jessica Pegula at the DC Open.
The 21-year-old trailed when the match was suspended due to heavy rain on Sunday night, but she turned the match on its head on Monday to win 4-6 6-4 6-0.
Success in Washington saw Eala become the first Filipino to record a singles title success on the tour and the star continues to rise as the US Open looms on the horizon.

Eala has quickly become a hugely popular figure in the Philippines after making it through to the last 16 at Wimbledon during an excellent grass season where she defeated some of the biggest names around.
Prior to her outstanding Wimbledon run, she also reached the semi-finals in Berlin, getting the better of both Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina on her way to the last four.
In 2026 alone, Eala has amassed seven victories against top-10 opponents and is in the form of her life heading into her fourth appearance at Flushing Meadows.
Former eight-division boxing champion and Filipino sporting icon Manny Pacquiao took to social media to congratulate Eala on her victory in Washington, calling her "our new champion" and praising the character she showed during her comeback victory.
