The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays are set for Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The Brewers took a commanding 3-0 series lead with an emphatic 10-1 win in Game 3 on Monday night. Heading into Game 4, Milwaukee is looking to clinch its first ever World Series title, while Tampa Bay is looking to stay alive and force Game 5 on Wednesday night.
First pitch for Game 4 is slated for 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
Monday’s 10-1 loss in Game 3 is about as demoralizing as it gets for the Rays. Tampa Bay suffered back-to-back losses on the road in Games 1 and 2, but at least knew they were coming back home for Game 3. The Rays had been great at Tropicana Field all season long, owning a record of 55-26 at home during the regular season.
Tampa Bay was also sending Freddy Peralta to the mound, who had been lights out all season. But after the wheels completely fell off in an eight-run 8th inning for the Brewers, the Rays now have their backs against the wall. After such a crushing and lifeless defeat, it’s tough to see the Rays bouncing back in Game 4.
The Rays will hand the ball to Griffin Jax with their season on the line. Jax has thrown just 6.0 innings so far in the postseason, and hasn’t found much success. He has allowed six hits and four earned runs in those 6.0 innings, entering Game 4 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP to his name.
With the way the Brewers are swinging the bats and being aggressive in the box, Jax could have his hands full. Tampa Bay’s bullpen is also pretty gutted after using five relievers in Game 3.
Look for the Brewers to win Game 4 and close out the series.
The Brewers have yet to officially announce a starting pitcher. It seems likely that multiple pitchers will be used early and often. But the Rays have nothing to lose, so they should enter the box with an aggressive approach looking to attack. Tampa Bay ranked 6th in MLB with a team batting average of .262 at home this season, and if they are attacking early in counts, they could find themselves having a better offensive day than Game 3’s dud.
The Brewers are absolutely dialed in at the plate right now. Milwaukee is wasting no time getting their cuts in at the plate, and have bombarded Tampa Bay pitching all throughout this series, but especially in Game 3. Jax has struggled this postseason, and Tampa Bay’s bullpen is fairly depleted. It will be interesting to see who is available. But regardless, the Brewers seem to be in a solid spot to stay hot at the plate.
With a total of 7.5, consider the over in Tuesday’s Game 4.
