Jayden Daniels has missed two straights weeks after dislocating his left elbow, but the Commanders need their QB back after an injury to Marcus Mariota.
Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys and was replaced by longtime backup Marcus Mariota.
Unfortunately for the Washington Commanders, Mariota suffered a knee injury this past weekend, leaving the team down to their third-string quarterback, Athan Kaliakmanis.
Mariota played very well in Daniels' absence, leading the team to a 33-31 win over the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks, in Week 4. He then completed three of four pass attempts for 46 yards before leaving the game against the Indianapolis Colts in London.
Kaliakmanis came into the game against the Colts, completing 15 of his 33 pass attempts for 186 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Kaliakmanis was not the player Washington fans expected to see four weeks into the season, but they may get their starting quarterback back in Week 5 against the New York Giants.
Jayden Daniels is trending towards playing in Week 5 against the Giants.
Fortunately, the injury is not to his throwing arm, meaning it does not need to be fully healed for him to play. He travelled with his team to London and completed some throwing drills with a brace on his left arm prior to the game.
Head coach Dan Quinn told the media that the plan is for Daniels to take practice reps during the week to see how much he can manage with a limited left arm.
After starting 1-3, the Commanders are eager to get Daniels back in action.
