Lamar Jackson injury Update & Possible Return Date

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Tennessee Titans this week, but they lost their star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who did not return to the game after half-time due to an ankle injury.

Jackson was sacked by the Titans' defensive end Jermaine Johnson II during the second quarter, resulting in another defender landing on his left ankle. Jackson stayed in the game after the hit and finished the first half, but did not re-enter the game after halftime.

Jackson's day ended with 15 completions from 20 attempts for 222 yards and two touchdowns before being replaced by 28-year-old backup Tyler Huntley.

Huntley completed eight of nine passes for 63 yards in the second half, in addition to four rushes for 16 yards, to see out the 24-18 win and take the Ravens to a 3-1 record through four games.

Huntley has been Jackson's backup for six of his seven years in the NFL and has been a solid replacement for the running quarterback each season. Huntley has thrown for 3,275 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing for 811 yards and five touchdowns in his career.

Lamar Jackson's Injury Update

Jackson's injury was not serious enough to force him out of the game immediately, but it was serious enough to keep him sidelined after half-time.

The two-time MVP later left M&T Bank Stadium wearing a walking boot on his left foot, which was not a good sign for Ravens fans or fantasy football managers looking ahead to next week.

Head coach Jesse Minter said that the team does not yet know the extent of his quarterback's injury. Further tests will reveal a clearer timeline of when Jackson can return to play.

Lamar Jackson's Possible Return Date

Although the full extent of Jackson's injury is not yet known, the Ravens will be hoping it is not too serious.

They will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, followed by two of their AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, in Weeks 6 and 7. The team will be eager to win those crucial games to create some separation from their divisional competition.

Baltimore could opt to rest Jackson against the Falcons if there is any doubt over his availability, ensuring he is healthy for the subsequent games and the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Football Advice after Lamar Jackson's Injury

If Lamar Jackson does not play next week, fantasy football managers will definitely need a backup plan at quarterback, but other players on the Ravens may also be affected.

Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews could also see a significant hit to their production if Huntley is his quarterback against the Falcons. Flowers will still likely see the bulk of the opportunities in the passing game, but the offense could rely more heavily on Derrick Henry than they would if Jackson was throwing the ball.

If Jackson is out, quarterbacks who are worth streaming in Week 5 could include Kirk Cousins against the New England Patriots, Jacoby Brissett against the Detroit Lions, and C.J. Stroud against the Titans.
