Colson Montgomery and Nelson Velazquez each went deep in Game 1 of the White Sox vs. Astros series yesterday - the Astros will need some more big hits in a must-win game today.
Montgomery's hit was the biggest for Chicago, but 11 hits and four walks kept them on the bases consistently throughout the game. Randal Grichuk, Braden Montgomery and Chase Meidroth each had two hits for the Sox, being large contributors to their six-run output in Game 1.
The Astros, loaded with veteran sluggers Jeremy Pena, Yordan Alvarez, Isaac Paredes, Jose Altuve, and Christian Walker, only managed six hits and scored three times against a bullpen that pitched very well for the White Sox yesterday.
Velazquez, a pinch-hitter, blasted a two-run homer in the fifth to account for most of their runs, but the Stros will need their top guys to perform better at the plate in Game 2.
Each team's respective ace - Hunter Brown for Houston and Sean Burke for Chicago - will take the mound in this one.
