Myles Garrett is the premier pass rusher in the NFL. An absolute terror on the edge, he recorded a record-breaking 23.0 sacks in a single season last year, becoming only the second player, after J.J. Watt in 2014, to win the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) unanimously.

Garrett also registered 33 tackles for loss (TFL), leading the NFL for the second consecutive season. This offseason, he was traded to the Rams, who are going all-in in hopes of securing their third Super Bowl title.

At 30 years old, Garrett still has a lot left in the tank after nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who selected him first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.

2. Micah Parsons

Age: 27

Micah Parsons is a prototypical edge rusher. He will line up anywhere on the defensive line and beat the player opposite him with a blend of speed, strength, and rapid changes in direction.

Parsons has recorded at least 12 sacks and a forced fumble in every season of his career, despite playing only 13 games in 2024 and 14 games in 2025. He has finished in the top three of Defensive Player of the Year voting in four of his first five seasons in the league.

In Week 15 of the regular season last year, Parsons suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter, which forced him to miss the remainder of the season and has cast doubt on his availability for the opening weeks of the 2026 season.

Crosby has played in 110 of a possible 117 games in his seven-year career, recording 69.5 sacks. Highlighting his incredible motor, 22.5 of those sacks have come in the fourth quarter.

In 2025, Crosby recorded 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss (second in the NFL), and 73 total tackles (the second-most by a player with 10+ sacks).

4. Will Anderson Jr.

Entering his fourth season, Will Anderson Jr. has firmly established himself as a cornerstone of one of the NFL's premier defensive units. His impact was undeniable last season, as he recorded 12 sacks (8th in the NFL) and 20 tackles for loss (T-4th in the NFL).

Anderson is electric on the defensive line, possessing lightning-fast get-off speed combined with incredible strength and a high motor. He is a terror for opposing tackles, playing a fierce brand of football which all make him one of the top edge rushers in the league.

5. Aidan Hutchinson

Age: 25

Aidan Hutchinson was selected second overall by the Detroit Lions in 2022, and the former Michigan Wolverine has lived up to the hype.

The 25-year-old played all 17 games in three of his first four seasons but missed 12 games in 2024 after suffering a broken tibia and fibula. Hutchinson was off to a hot start that season with 7.5 sacks in the first five games and returned from the injury looking sharp in 2025.

Hutchinson recorded 14.5 sacks (4th in the NFL), 14 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 1 interception, and 20 quarterback hits last season.

He is the focal point of the Lions' defense and still delivers significant production while being double-teamed on a high percentage of passing snaps.

6. Danielle Hunter

Team: Houston Texans
Age: 31

Over his 10 seasons in the NFL, Danielle Hunter has recorded double-digit sacks seven times. In two of the three seasons where he failed to reach that mark, he did not play a full season.

Hunter finished third in the NFL in sacks last season with 15, and tied for eighth in tackles for loss with 15. The veteran benefits from having Will Anderson Jr. lined up on the opposite edge, but he is also a major reason why the Houston defense is so elite at rushing the quarterback.

Tuli Tuipulotu has emerged as one of the best pass rushers in the NFL under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Tuipulotu has significantly increased production in each of his three seasons in the league, and finished 2025 with 13 sacks (6th in the NFL) and 20 tackles for loss (Tied-4th in the NFL).

Tuipulotu is the young leader on a fast and relentless Charger defense, leading by example with his high motor.

The California native is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract, making him incredibly motivated to have another stellar season in 2026.

T.J. Watt did not have a dominant statistical season in 2025, but he remains one of the best edge rushers in the NFL ahead of the 2026 season.

At 31 years old, Watt does a little bit of everything on defense. In 2025, he recorded seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.

Watt commands so much attention from opposing offenses that it allows other pass rushers to thrive, such as Nick Herbig (7.5 sacks) and Alex Highsmith (9.5 sacks). Watt might not be as dominant as his older brother J.J. was, but he is still a top-tier edge defender for the Steelers.
