The Carolina Hurricanes will be without Taylor Hall for at least the next couple of games after the forward suffered a new upper-body injury during practice on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour confirmed the setback on Thursday, explaining that Hall tweaked something during the session. While Brind’Amour described the injury as minor and “not serious”, Hall is expected to remain out of the lineup for a little longer.
The 34-year-old had only recently been activated from injured reserve and was initially expected to return for Carolina’s game against the Boston Bruins on October 29. However, the latest injury setback delayed his comeback and means there is currently no confirmed return date.
Hall originally sustained an upper-body injury during the Hurricanes’ 4–2 victory over the Washington Capitals on October 13. That issue kept him out for five games and led to a stint on injured reserve. After making progress in his recovery, he was nearing a return before picking up the new problem in practice.
The Hurricanes will now monitor Hall’s condition over the coming days before determining when he is ready to resume playing. Based on Brind’Amour’s comments, Hall is expected to miss the next couple of games, but the team has not indicated that he will be sidelined for an extended period.
Hall has made eight appearances for Carolina this season, recording three goals and two assists for five points. The Calgary native was also a productive contributor last season, finishing with 48 points from 80 games, including 18 goals and 30 assists.
Carolina will hope Hall can make a full recovery and return to the lineup soon, although his availability will likely depend on how he responds to treatment and training over the next few days.
