Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder look to continue their dominant run tonight in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
OKC, the defending champs, took care of business against Phoenix in the first round, sweeping them without a game being very close.
SGA was fantastic in games two-through-four, scoring 37, 42, and 31 points in each of those games respectively. He could hardly miss in Game 3 and Game 4, shooting a combined 25-35 from the field and 20-23 from the free throw line.
Gilgeous-Alexander did that against a defense that ranked No. 6 in the NBA in the regular season, led by the likes of Dillon Brooks, Jordan Goodwin, Devin Booker, and Rasheer Fleming on the perimeter.
In round two, SGA will face off against 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart and the Lakers defense.
The Lakers, without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the latter who returned for the final two games of the first round, beat the Houston Rockets in six games. LA's defense held Houston to less than 100 points in five of the six games and will need to keep up that momentum to have a chance against the Thunder.
SGA is on a quest to become the first player since Kevin Durant in 2017 and 2018 to win back-to-back Finals MVPs, and the next step to that goal starts tonight at 8:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM CT / 5:30 PM PT.
