Indiana Pacers' star guard Tyrese Haliburton is on track to play in his first organized game since he tore his Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Haliburton's injury came at the worst time - he started the game shooting 3/4 from three and scored nine points in seven minutes before his right Achilles ruptured. Of course, the Thunder went on to win the game and the championship, and Haliburton's injury came so late in the season that he was forced to miss the entirety of the 2025/26 season.
He also dealt with severe outbreak of shingles in the midst of his recovery, which led to an uncontrollable weight gain that kept him out of shape. However, he declared himself 100% healthy for the start of the season at Pacers' media day on Sep. 28.
"I'm healthy, I'm 100%...I am ready to go for the year," he said. His current health status makes it an exciting time for Pacers basketball. The Pacers will face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight in Haliburton's quest towards getting ready for game shape before Indiana plays its first regular season game on Oct. 21 versus the New Orleans Pelicans.
