Strickland is currently 29-6 in his MMA career and is 16-6 in the UFC.

Strickland started his professional MMA career with a perfect record of 12-0 in various promotions before breaking into the UFC in March of 2014.

His UFC debut was a submission win against Robert McDaniel. He followed up this debut win with another win against Luke Barnett in May of 2014 by split decision.

Strickland then suffered his first UFC loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio by unanimous decision in February of 2015. He bounced back strongly after this loss with three consecutive wins, before losing to Kamaru Usman in April of 2017. 

After the loss to Usman, Strickland went 1-1 over his next two fights before rattling off six consecutive victories, his longest win streak in the UFC and second longest win streak in his MMA career.

His most notable wins during this streak include Brendan Allen, Krzysztof Jotko, Uriah Hall, and Jack Hermansson. 

He followed up his winning streak by losing two fights in a row, to Alex Pereira and Jared Cannonier, the longest losing streak of his MMA and UFC career.

Following that losing streak, Strickland won three fights in a row, most notably against Abus Magomedov, which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus, and Israel Adesanya, which earned him the Middleweight title and another Performance of the Night bonus.

Strickland dropped the title to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 on January 20, 2024, in a decision loss. The two fighters took home Fight of the Night bonuses.

At UFC 302 in June 2024, Strickland bounced back with a split-decision win over Paulo Costa.

Over the course of his career, Strickland has won 14 fights by decision, 11 fights by KO/TKO, and four fights by submission. He has lost four times by decision, twice by KO/TKO, and never by submission.
