The women's final draw for the French Open at Roland Garros was announced today, with the first round scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 24.
American sensation Coco Gauff is looking to defend her 2025 title while World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is hoping to get closer to a career Grand Slam - she's won the Australian Open and US Open twice, but has yet to claim the title at the French Open or at Wimbledon.
The two matched up in the final in 2025 with Gauff getting the best of Sabalenka in three sets. They have already played against each other in 2026, as Sabalenka defeated the 22-year-old in the Miami Open final in March.
Other notable competitors include World No. 2 Elena Rybakina and No. 3 Iga Swiatek. Rybakina started 2026 strong with an outright win at the Australian Open. She's only advanced to the quarterfinal twice (2021, 2024), but she has historically played well on clay.
Swiatek has had a rough 2026 so far, accumulating a 18-9 record with no titles and didn't make the quarterfinal at the AO. She has, however, performed extremely well at the French Open, winning four of the last six tournaments (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024).
Other than Gauff, notable Americans at the French Open include No. 5 Jessica Pegula, No. 6 Amanda Anisimova, No. 17 Iva Jovic, No. 19 Madison Keys, No. 26 Hailey Baptiste, Emma Navarro, and more.
