Tipoff | 9:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM PT |
Location | Moody Center, Austin, TX |

The San Antonio Spurs head to Moody Center in Austin, Texas, to face the Houston Rockets. It’s one of three I-35 matchups the Spurs will play in Austin this season, and the arena is expected to be packed with fans eager to watch Victor Wembanyama and Kevin Durant.
The Spurs were blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder in their season opener. Wembanyama struggled, shooting just 1-for-13 from the field and finishing with 12 points. Now, he’ll look to prove it was just an off night and bounce back against the Rockets.
The Rockets have kept much of last season’s roster intact, but their additions could address a major weakness. Marcus Smart, signed in the offseason, and Fred VanVleet, back from a year-long injury, bring valuable ball-handling and playmaking skills, helping coordinate an offense that often lacked direction last season. Their presence should also ease the playmaking burden on Kevin Durant and Ausar Thompson.
Last season, the Spurs won the season series 3-1, with Wembanyama missing their lone loss. The star center has consistently posed matchup problems for Houston, and the Rockets will need to find a way to contain him after seeing how effectively the Thunder did so in the season opener.
