Rumors are circulating about the possibility of the Cardinals trading Marvin Harrison Jr., and the receiver could use a change of scenery.
The Arizona Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison Jr., the son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison, with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State receiver will become extension-eligible at the end of this season, but the Cardinals could opt to trade him rather than commit to several more years with the 24-year-old.
Harrison Jr. had a productive rookie season in the NFL, catching 62 passes for 885 yards and eight touchdowns, but his production has steadily declined since that first year. Two games into his third season, MHJ has only one catch for 33 yards on four targets.
Things are not going well for the wideout in Arizona, and he has fallen behind and been unable to compete at the level of tight end Trey McBride and Michael Wilson. Clips circulating on social media claim that he is not trying very hard and looks eager to leave the Cardinals, which has only served to spark trade rumours.
Harrison entered the league as an incredibly talented prospect with a very famous name, but he has not been able to live up to those high expectations. A change of scenery could be exactly what MHJ needs to get his career back on track and reach the heights expected of him since his college days.
What Teams Could Trade for Marvin Harrison Jr.?
There are multiple teams in the NFL that could be interested in trading for MHJ, either to improve their wide receiver room this season or to take a gamble on the player's prospect profile from a few years ago.
One team that's very thin at receiver this season is the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson is leaning heavily on Zay Flowers and tight end Mark Andrews in hopes of bringing Baltimore to it's first Super Bowl appearance since 2013, and Harrison could be the ideal deep threat receiver Jackson needs to add a new element to the passing attack.
The Las Vegas Raiders are incredibly thin at wide receiver, and could be another potential landing spot for Harrison. Brock Bowers is the primary pass catcher in the offense, but Harrison could easily be the top wide receiver on the team ahead of Tre Tucker and Jack Bech.
The Buffalo Bills are another team who could use an extra receiver, but they'll also want to see what the offense looks like after a few more full games with DJ Moore in the lineup.
