The Contenders

Arch Manning has been talked about as a potential first overall pick the in the NFL Draft since high school. As the nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, expectations for Arch have been through the roof. The Texas quarterback is a modern dual-threat playmaker, and unlike his uncles, uses his size to his advantage in the run game. Arch has incredible arm talent similar to his uncles, capable of making throws into tight windows but he's also a very willing runner when his protections fall apart.

CJ Carr is the second favorite to be selected first overall in the upcoming draft out of Notre Dame. Carr is one of the most intelligent quarterbacks eligible for the draft, with incredibly fast processing and decision making skills. In addition to his football IQ, Carr also has elite arm talent capable of making difficult tight window throws.

Dante Moore is similar to Carr in that he is a phenomenal pocket passer, and he's sneaky athletic. Moore was expected to be a top-two pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but opted to return to Oregon for his senior year and refine his skills before entering the league.

Jeremiah Smith has the shortest odds of any non-quarterback to be selected first overall. The X-receiver possesses elite body control, a big frame, and soft hands, which has drawn comparisons to NFL legends Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones. Smith, a junior, has already become the all-time Ohio State receiving yards leader, passing some NFL Hall of Fame caliber Buckeyes. Former OSU head coach Urban Meyer recently stated that Smith is "probably the best receiver in college football history."

One player climbing up the odds table is Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss is an elite talent with a knack for putting on a cape when the game needs a superhero. Chambliss is unafraid of any situation, and has talent in both his arm and his legs to make some incredible plays on the football field.

Other quarterbacks in the conversation for the No. 1 pick are Darian Mensah, Drew Mestemaker, Jayden Maiava, Julian Sayin, and LaNorris Sellers. Each of these players could opt into returning to college for their senior seasons, but Mensah and Maiava both expected to enter the draft.
