Most of the biggest names in golf have decided to take the week off following the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in England, but world number one Scottie Scheffler will be lining up at the 3M Open.
TPC Twin Cities is the venue in Minnesota and Scheffler will be making his first visit, but after he finished fourth last week, he has not claimed a victory since he won the American Express in January and there may be a temptation to swerve him at a short +280.
Kurt Kitayama will be defending the trophy he claimed 12 months ago and the course has lent itself to big hitters.
With so many of the top players taking the opportunity to rest, it would not be a surprise if some of the lesser-known players approached with the confidence that they could be a factor in the shake-up.
3M Open betting picks and predictions
Sungjae Im to win (+5000)
South Korea’s Sungjae Im may not leap out of the formbook after missing the cut in each of the last two years at TPC Twin Cities, but there looks a strong chance that he can come to the fore this week.
Those missed weekends were unfortunate, but he did bag second place on his course debut in 2019 and came even closer to success three years later when, alongside Emiliano Grillo, he was second, three shots behind Tony Finau.
So it is not as if he does not possess the skills to take a grip on the Blaine track - he was the first-round leader on that occasion after he carded an opening 65.
And while he has claimed just three top-ten finishes on the PGA Tour in 2026, there was a lot to like about his 14th spot at Royal Birkdale and that performance in the final Major of the year could have given him enough of a lift to put him in the frame for glory this week.
Mac Meissner to win (+5000)
Mac Meissner is another player available to support at +5000 who could become a factor in what looks a weak field by PGA Tour standards.
He was 14th in the tournament last year and he heads to Minnesota having posted some decent results.
Meissner displayed his liking for the lower-profile events when he posted a tenth-placed finish at the Myrtle Beach Classic, and his third place at the Charles Schwab Challenge was even more encouraging.
It is only a few weeks since he was sixth at the John Deere Classic and he also posted a decent 30th at the Scottish Open, where he played in unfamiliar conditions in a decent field.
This is just the sort of tournament where he could come to the fore and he looks to be one to watch out for.
Ben Kohles to win (+7000)
Now that the final Major of the year is in the books, we are entering the time of year where those who have performed well on the Korn Ferry Tour can impress at the higher level.
One such competitor this week could be Ben Kohles, who claimed the BMW Charity Pro-Am on the KFT at the beginning of last month and has been able to build upon that performance.
That four-shot victory plainly gave him a massive confidence boost as he was 29th at the higher grade Canadian Open shortly afterwards and then 23rd at the US Open.
July then started with a third spot at the John Deere Classic, when he finished two shots behind Chris Gotterup, and his 15th at the ISCO Championship last time out was another good performance, especially as he had allowed the field to steal a march on him following a disappointing opening 71.
The Dallas native has finished 24th and 20th in his two attempts to win this tournament, and all the signs appear to be there for him to mount a much stronger challenge on this occasion, as he goes in search of what would be his first victory at PGA Tour level.
