Colorado (2–0) will play their second game as underdogs on Saturday, away to Northwestern.

Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes opened the season as underdogs against Georgia Tech and narrowly edged out the Yellow Jackets thanks to a final-minute touchdown pass from Julian Lewis and a blocked field goal from defensive back Boo Carter.

The Buffs then handled Weber State at home, securing a 52–21 victory. Lewis impressed in that game, passing for 366 yards and four touchdowns. The sophomore's top target was Joseph Williams, who caught four passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

Northwestern (1–0) have only played one game so far, in which they defeated South Dakota State 34–18.

The Wildcats relied heavily on the run game against South Dakota State, rushing for 224 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries. Caleb Komolafe led the team in carries (10), but Joseph Himon II led the team with 87 rushing yards on just four carries.

In recent years, Colorado have struggled to defend the run. However, the Buffs only allowed 78 yards on the ground to Georgia Tech, which is a promising sign for Sanders and his team ahead of the clash with Northwestern.
