Spurs vs. Thunder Game 5: Prediction & Player Props

After evening the Western Conference Finals at two games apiece, the San Antonio Spurs head back to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder in tonight's pivotal Game 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Unlike Game 3, when they quickly squandered an early 15-point advantage, the Spurs took control early in Game 4 on Sunday and never relinquished their advantage in a surprisingly easy 103-82 triumph.

Victor Wembanyama returned to form with 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle each scored 13 points, and De'Aaron Fox had another strong showing in his second game back in the lineup, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

After getting pulverized in bench scoring in Game 3, 76-23, the Spurs kept it relatively close, getting outscored just 34-30.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was held under 20 points for just the second time this postseason. His 19 points still led the Thunder, and he added 7 rebounds.

Isaiah Hartenstein had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Chet Holmgren chipped in with 10 points and 9 rebounds. OKC shot just 33% from the field, including a disastrous 6 for 33 from beyond the arc.

The Thunder continue to be plagued by Jalen Williams's absence. The team's third-leading scorer has only played four games in the postseason. Unlike Game 3, Oklahoma City was unable to account for his absence on Sunday.

To say Tuesday's outcome is pivotal is an understatement. Teams with a 3-2 lead in an NBA Best-of-7 series end up winning that series 85% of the time.

Spurs vs. Thunder betting picks and predictions

San Antonio Spurs +5.5 (-110)

Despite the 21-point defeat on the road on Sunday, the Thunder come into Tuesday's contest as 5.5-point favorites, with a -200 moneyline. San Antonio sits at +165.

The Spurs improved in almost every area flagged after their disappointing Game 3 loss. They had 52 rebounds, a much healthier 25-to-12 assist-to-turnover ratio, and, after going on a 16-0 first-quarter run to take a 23-8 lead, they did not succumb quickly.

San Antonio's defense was the biggest star on Sunday, forcing OKC's shooters into uncomfortable situations all game. Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most prolific scorers in recent NBA memory. He was appropriately lauded earlier this season for a scoring streak of 20-or-more points that topped 125 straight games.

In fact, there have been only three games since the start of the 2024-25 season in which SGA has scored less than 20 points, and two of them have come against the Spurs.

San Antonio knows how to beat the Thunder. It's been done 6 times in 9 meetings this season. The Spurs are 8-4 against the spread in their last 12 against Oklahoma City, including a 6-3 ATS mark this season.

This series is due for a tight contest after three straight games decided by 9 points or more. Look for tonight's matchup to be the closest outing since Game 1 went to overtime. The Spurs may not win outright, but they should cover the 5.5-point spread as underdogs.

Over 217 points (-110)

Game 4 was the first time in this series that the Spurs and Thunder played to the under. San Antonio has played to the over in 8 of 9, and OKC has done the same in 6 of 7.

Look for a return to form as the teams play to the over on Tuesday.

San Antonio Spurs VS. Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Team News

San Antonio Spurs

Fox and rookie Dylan Harper missed time earlier in the series, but both have returned and are contributing regularly. San Antonio has no other injuries at this time.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Williams' absence hangs over the Thunder like a regular storm cloud. Especially with Ajay Mitchell, who was so strong in Williams' place earlier this postseason, now missing his second straight game tonight.
