Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, July 11, 2026.
The main event featured a rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, the two had not faced each other in over a decade.
Ahead of this event, there were high hopes that the rematch could be the first of several more bouts between the two athletes and the start of a new chapter in Conor McGregor's career.
However, things came to a halting stop early in the first round at UFC 329 during the main card event.
In his highly anticipated return, a right leg injury quickly ended the fight for McGregor.
Conor McGregor landed awkwardly on his right leg after attempting a jump kick when the fight started. Moments later, he dropped to his back and endured a pound from Holloway.
Once McGregor got to his feet again, he indicated to the referee that he was unable to continue. Max Holloway was awarded the KO/TKO 1:09 into the first round.
After spending five years away from the Octagon recovering from a broken left-leg, McGregor's return ended with a right internal knee injury.
MRI results will provide a better understanding of the injury, but as of now, its suspected to be either a torn ACL or damaged meniscus cartilage in his right knee.
It is unclear if Conor McGregor will ever fight again, but the 37-year old will take time to recover from his right leg injury.
Only time will tell if Conor McGregor will be ready to return to the Octagon.
