After a few tumultuous seasons in the South Side, the Chicago White Sox are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
A young and explosive offense combined with a solid pitching staff has led the White Sox to a 84-78 record and a Wild Card spot against the Houston Astros.
The Astros went 81-81 but managed to win the AL West for the eighth time in the last 10 years. They got off to a poor start, but projected AL MVP Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, and Jeremy Pena remain a top trio in the league.
While the Astros' vets have led them to yet another playoff appearance, Chicago's rookies this season have a main driving factor for their improvement this year. Munetaka Murakami, Tristan Peters, Sam Antonacci, and Hagen Smith have all contributed in a big way in their debut seasons' - the first three have all been very productive hitters, while Smith has established himself as a strikeout-heavy lefty out of the pen.
Both teams are expected to pitch a mostly bullpen-led game tomorrow in Game 1, before aces Hunter Brown for the Astros and Sean Burke for the White Sox takeover in either Game 2 or 3.
