Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. BC Lions Prediction & Best Bets

Week 10 of the Canadian Football League concludes on Saturday night with a cross-division matchup between Hamilton Tiger-Cats and BC Lions.

The game has an expected kickoff time of 7:00 PM ET and is being played at the BC Place in Vancouver.

Our article previews this game by giving you our two best bets for the game, as well as a bonus player prop pick. Additionally, we include the current betting odds for the game.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. BC Lions: betting picks and predictions

BC Lions +7.5 (-110)

Our top pick for this game looks for the Lions to cover the spread. BC enters this game with a record of 2-5 and have just four points on the season.

Given their poor record, the Lions are currently in last place in the West Division.

However, as bad as they have been, BC has still played some tight games this season against some very good teams. For instance, the Lions are coming off a 35-19 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 9.

They also lost 31-27 to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 2, beat Edmonton 36-24 in Week 5 and lost to the same Elks team 19-17 in Week 7.

As for Hamilton, they enter this game with a record of 3-5 and have six points on the season, with the Tiger-Cats currently in third place in the East Division.

Further, Hamilton is currently riding a two-game losing streak, in which they lost to the Montreal Alouettes 31-18 in Week 8 and lost to the Calgary Stampeders 44-20 in Week 9.

Note that these teams previously met in Week 3, with the Tigers-Cats winning by a score of 41-27. That said, the Lions have played much better since then, while the Tiger-Cats have recently looked at their worst.

Because of this, backing the BC Lions to cover +7.5 is our best bet.

Over 56.5 total points (-105)

Our second pick for this game looks at the over. Neither team has had the most consistent offense this season, seeing that the both Tiger-Cats and Lions are averaging 26.7 points per game.

That said, they both also typically struggle on the defensive side, with Hamilton allowing 29.3 points per game and BC allowing an average of 28.7 points per game.

Most notably, in the first meeting between these two teams, the final score was 41-27, so went well over the total. Further, Hamilton is a steady 4-4 to the over this season, while BC is 4-3 to the over.

That first showdown showed that both defenses are vulnerable and that has continued throughout most of the season. For that reason, backing over 56.5 total points is our play.

Zander Horvath anytime touchdown (-170)

Our favorite player prop for this game looks for BC Lions' Zander Horvath to score an anytime touchdown. He has not had the greatest season in terms of rushing yards, as he has just 254.

That said, he has scored eight times this season, which include six rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns.

More importantly, Horvath is tied for fourth in the league with his six rushing touchdowns and is coming off his best game by far in Week 9 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

In this game, Horvath rushed for 191 yards and had three touchdowns and, because of this, backing him to find the end zone at least once is our play.
