It has most recently been reported that Alcaraz is suffering from inflammation of the tendon sheath in his wrist. Carlos is currently wearing a cast to help with the discomfort and recovery.
At the 2026 Barcelona Open (April 11-21), Alcaraz had no choice but to withdraw after sustaining the right-wrist injury.
The Spaniard also pulled out of his home Madrid Open (April 20- May 3), the decision was made to avoid worsening the injury during the clay season.
His medical evaluations are ongoing to assess the severity of the situation. It has not been announced if Alcaraz will try to defend his title at the Italian Open in two weeks or continue to rest as he tries to complete a three-peat at the French Open.
Alcaraz has established himself as a dominant force on clay, combining explosive movement, heavy topspin, and elite court coverage.
His ability to up his level in long rallies and adapt quickly to different opponents has made him one of the most dangerous players on the surface.
However, his wrist injury will be a setback heading into the weeks leading up to the 2026 French Open. Now there will be even more pressure on the defending French Open champion as he relies on his recovery process ahead of the tournament.
