The 2026 season continues to become one that Yankees' superstar Aaron Judge would like to forget.
The 3x MVP has only played in 66 games thus far and is in doubt to play in the upcoming Wild Card series next week. As of Sep. 22, the Yankees would play their rival Red Sox in a three-game set with home-field advantage.
Judge exited last Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins and was placed on the injured list Friday with a right calf strain. It is his second stint on the IL this year - he missed 86 games earlier this year with a rib injury.
"We're planning on him not being a part of [the Wild Card series]," manager Aaron Boone said on Tuesday regarding Judge. He called it a "moderate strain" and said Judge received a PPP injection on Monday and is planning on avoiding physical activity for a couple of days.
Boone didn't entirely rule out a return, however. "We're at a point in the year where obviously we push it a little if that was in play. But that's a week away so I'm not expecting it, but I'm not ruling it out either," he said.
After two historic seasons in which he hit 111 homers combined, Judge will finish his regular season slashing .241/.360/.511 with 18 homers and 41 RBIs.
