A clear big-three of No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Oregon, and No. 6 Indiana have established themselves as the clear frontrunners in the conference, while teams like No. 14 USC, No. 16 Michigan, No. 17 Washington, No. 18 Penn State, and No. 22 Iowa trail behind.
After going 12-0 in the regular season, the Buckeyes fell to Fernando Mendoza and the Hoosiers in the Big Ten Conference Championship game before losing its second game in a row in the quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff against Miami (FL).
Those Hoosiers would go on to, of course, win it all against the Hurricanes as Curt Cignetti's prophecies all came true in a magical 16-0 season.
Oregon, meanwhile, had its third consecutive phenomenal season under head coach Dan Lanning, finishing 13-2 and eventually concluding its season with a loss in the semifinal against the eventual champs.
