Anthony Davis was part of the league-shaking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, and less than a year later, the current Dallas Mavericks' big man has found himself in trade discussions once again.
Former Mavs GM Nico Harrison had his eyes set on crafting a team built off defense, and with Cooper Flagg falling into their lap, some thought they could be contenders once Kyrie Irving got healthy.
However, injuries to several other key players throughout the season, including Davis, have the Mavericks sitting towards the bottom of the barrel in the Western Conference.
Dallas is 18-26 and Davis will be out six weeks as he recovers from a hand injury. Some fans and analysts believe this is a good time to trade the 10x All-Star to a playoff contender in which he would return at a perfect time before the playoffs begin.
The trade deadline happens at 3 PM ET on Feb. 5, and bet365 has odds up for the favorites to land Davis prior to the deadline.

A definitive top-three has been established: The Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors have the best chance at employing AD past the trade deadline. The odds for these three teams are all shorter than +600, and are far ahead of the fourth ranked Charlotte Hornets at +1800.
It would be a risky move for any team seriously considering trading for AD considering his injury history and uncertainty about this hand surgery. He chose to opt-out of surgery which would have held him out for months. Instead, he'll be rehabbing it for a little over a month.
The Mavericks (-135) are still the clear favorites to keep AD past the trade deadline. The front office could see how the team plays when the team is presumably at full health come mid-February, then reevaluate their trade options in the offseason.
After trading away Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks (+210) are the first team outside of Dallas to land Davis. The Hawks are 21-25 and are 10th in the Eastern Conference, but a trade for Davis to pair with Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and more would make it a pretty talented unit in a weak Eastern Conference.
The Raptors (+550) could parlay their unexpected success this season with a big move for Davis. Sitting at 27-19 and comfortably a top-five seed, a move for AD could launch them into the top of contention in the East.
A potential Immanuel Quickley and R.J. Barrett trade for Davis, plus some other players to make the salary work could be on the table.
The Hornets (+1800), Golden State Warriors (+2000), Chicago Bulls (+2200), Boston Celtics (+2500), Milwaukee Bucks (+2500), Los Angeles Clippers (+3500), and Phoenix Suns (+3500) are all in the top-ten, though it's hard to fathom any of these teams making the risky move for Davis.
