The Canadian Open is the second-oldest active tennis tournament in the world.
As players look to fine-tune their games ahead of the US Open, the tournament provides another opportunity on hard-courts for players to make a statement against elite competition.
Also known as The National Bank Open the tournament runs from August 1 - 13, 2026, with the men's events taking place in Montreal, while the women's events are in Toronto.
The event features top seeds Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, returning champion Ben Shelton, while the women's tournament features Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and defending champion Victoria Mboko.
Canadian Open Purse Breakdown
As a Masters 1000 event, the Canadian Open boasts a large prize pool for ATP and WTA competitors.
Following the expansion of the draw from 56 to 96 players, the total prize money for the ATP in 2025 was $9,193,540, marking a 35% increase compared to 2024.
This year, the ATP Masters 1000 event has announced the purse to be a total of $9,415,725.
The total 2026 WTA purse stands at $7,433,076, which is a $2.3 million increase from 2025. The winner of the women's draw will receive over $1 million for the first time ever in tournament history.
