The 2026 Canadian Open is well underway, with Round 1's leaderboard featuring five golfers tied at 6 under.
Brooks Koepka, Sam Burns, Sahith Theegala, Eric Cole, Emiliano Grillo, and Matthew Anderson entered Friday as the early tournament leaders, but only Sam Burns remains in the top 5 late Friday afternoon.
A new tournament leader has emerged at TPC Toronto, with James Barnes finishing the day at 10 under.
After the second round is completed, the field is trimmed to top 65 players including ties.
This means players must finish inside that threshold to advance to the weekend rounds (Rounds 3 and 4). The Canadian Open follows a standard mid-season cut format that rewards consistency across both early rounds.
The projected cut line at -2 reflects the current scoring environment at TPC Toronto, though the official line will not be confirmed until all second-round play is complete.
Since the cut is set at the top 65 players and ties, the final number can shift depending on how many players finish near the same score.
One of the biggest names in the tournament, Justin Rose, is currently sitting T123 and is expected to miss the cut. He is currently ranked No. 6 in the OWGR, but is struggling to find momentum this week.
With the U.S. Open coming up next week, he will be looking to reset and prepare for a stronger performance in golf's third major.
