Why thousands of Coventry fans will receive FREE season tickets for Premier League return

Coventry City have secured a sensational return to the Premier League following a 25-year absence and a raft of loyal fans are set to be handed FREE season tickets.

The Sky Blues confirmed their status as the first club to earn promotion to the top-flight this season with a 1-1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers on Friday night.

This campaign has been a dream for each and every Coventry fan, but especially so for some 5,000 extremely steadfast supporters who took advantage of the club's 'Premier League Package'.

Back in 2023, the Midlands outfit put forward a bold promotion that offered fans the chance to purchase a season ticket at an increased price of £500 - an amount that would be fixed for five years - and in return would receive a season ticket for free if they reached the Premier League by the 2027/28 season.

That offer has now become a reality and, although exact numbers are yet to be confirmed, the amount that could be purchased was capped at 5,000.

For fans who were optimistic enough to take advantage of the offer, it has proven to be quite the investment.

Season tickets at the Coventry Building Society Arena started at £440 for the current campaign and there is potential for that to rise as the club compete in the top-flight for the first time since suffering relegation in 2000/01.

The cheapest adult Premier League ticket this season stood at £345 at West Ham, however, the range goes all the way up to the eye-wateringly expensive £1,127 at Arsenal.

Burnley charged £352 upon their return to the top division while Sunderland increased their season ticket prices by 11% after promotion, charging fans £440 for the pleasure of lining the terraces at the Stadium of Light every other week.

Coventry's home attendances have been healthy as a result of the on-pitch performances given by Frank Lampard's side throughout this campaign and are only expected to grow heading into 2026/27.

Their average of 30,214 is up from 27,812 last year and is almost 5,000 more than the 25,468 supporters that attended home games in the 2023/24 season.
