Calum McFarlane is set for a second spell in the Chelsea dugout; this time until the end of the season.
A modern day answer to Guus Hiddink, the 40-year-old coach first took charge on a caretaker basis following the departure of Enzo Maresca and occupied the dugout for Premier League matches against Manchester City and Fulham.
Now, following Rosenior's sacking, McFarlane has been handed the interim reigns until the end of the season; meaning he will have the chance to win the FA Cup.
Formerly a coach in Manchester City's youth setup, McFarlane oversaw a 1-1 draw against his former employers when thrust into the dugout for January's top-flight fixture.
Facing off against Pep Guardiola, there could not have been a greater contrast in managerial experience with McFarlane overseeing his maiden senior game, two months after Guardiola celebrated his 1000th game in the dugout.
McFarlane's second game in caretaker charge against West London rivals Fulham ended in a 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage with Marc Cucurella receiving a red card.
Prior to his move to the capital, McFarlane had been in post with Southampton's U18 side before stepping up to manage the U21s. The ex-Croydon assistant boss only joined Chelsea last summer as U21 boss last summer, but will now lead the two-time Champions League winners out in the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds on Sunday.
Should his side prevail, then he will get the chance to follow in the footsteps of Hiddink and Roberto Di Matteo by lifting the FA Cup when in interim charge.
With Man City taking on Southampton in the other last four clash, McFarlane is guaranteed to at least face one of his former sides - should he mastermind a victory over Leeds - and Chelsea are 7/2 to go all the way.
