Cardiff City and Wrexham kick off their Championship campaigns with an all-Welsh clash at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday night.
There is no love lost between these two rivals and both clubs will be eager to make a fast start in a hugely competitive division.
Cardiff made an immediate return to the Championship as they won promotion under the stewardship of Brian Barry-Murphy last season, and the Bluebirds will be prioritising survival as they look to reestablish themselves in the second tier.
Wrexham narrowly missed out on a play-off berth in the previous campaign as they were leapfrogged by Hull City on the final day, and the Red Dragons will have aspirations of competing for promotion again with some eye-catching signings in the form of Danny Imray, Anthony Patterson and Ben Whiteman.
These two sides met the first time in over two decades last season as goals from Yousef Salech and Will Fish saw Cardiff reach the EFL Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 win at the Racecourse Ground.
You'd have to rewind back to 22nd March 2002 for the last time the two Welsh clubs met in a league fixture.
The two teams were competing in Division Two (now League One) with the Bluebirds fighting for promotion and Wrexham bidding to avoid the drop.
Cardiff had won the reverse fixture 3-1 at the Racecourse Ground, and at Ninian Park they made their home advantage count with two goals inside 17 minutes courtesy of Scott Young and Peter Thorne.
Wrexham pulled one back through Craig Faulconbridge, but Cardiff reestablished their two-goal cushion early in the second half through Danny Gabbidon. Denis Smith's visitors made it a tense end to proceedings as they reduced the deficit with two minutes remaining courtesy of Hector Sam, but Cardiff ultimately held on.
Cardiff ultimately finished fourth, missing out on automatic promotion by a point. The Bluebirds were then beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Stoke City. Wrexham, on the other hand, finished second from bottom as their nine-year stay in the third tier came to an end.
