Watford and Wolves fight to sign Brazilian striker

Watford and Wolves are battling it out to secure the signature of Brazilian striker John Kennedy from Fluminense.

Kennedy has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances for Fluminense in 2026, following on from a successful loan spell at Mexican side Pachuca last year.

Reports in Brazil have suggested that Watford and Wolves are both in the market to sign the striker from the Brazilian Serie A outfit this summer.

Kennedy is a talented 5'8" striker who possesses the ability to press defences from the front.

His high-intensity style has caught the attention of the two Championship clubs and he could provide more value for money compared to similar options currently in English football.

Championship

Watford had looked set to challenge for a play-off place for the majority of the 2025/26 season but their form tailed off drastically towards the back end of their campaign.

The Hornets ended up finishing 16th and incoming manager Alessio Dionisi will be expected to lead a top-six challenge next season.

Dionisi will also have Luca Kjerrumgaard at his disposal and the more diminutive figure of Kennedy could compliment the Dane nicely.

Wolves could have a number of reinforcements joining their ranks this summer following a disastrous season in the Premier League.

Manager Rob Edwards will be looking to assemble a squad capable of challenging for an immediate return and Kennedy would certainly add some quality at the top end of the pitch.
