Arguably the best fighter in the world regardless of promotion, Nurmagomedov has racked up a remarkable 21-0 record since making his professional debut in March 2017.
The cousin of UFC Hall of Fame inductee Khabib Nurmagomedov, Nurmagomedov claimed the inaugural PFL lightweight title by defeating Paul Hughes in their highly-anticipated rematch last year, and followed that up with a third-round submission of Alfie Davis in February.
Nurmagomedov reportedly has just one fight remaining on his current PFL deal, and could become the biggest free agent in the sport if he elects not to re-sign with the promotion.
First though he will need to get through the undefeated wrestler Archie Colgan.
Colgan has announced himself as one of the biggest prospects in MMA at 155lbs with his wins over the likes of Mansour Barnaoui and Jay Jay Wilson, and the American will be hoping his decorated amateur wrestling pedigree gives him the edge when he challenges for the belt at PFL New York.

Usman Nurmagomedov's lightweight title defence against Archie Colgan will take place on the PFL New York card on Friday the 31st of July, with the fight likely to get underway in the early hours of Saturday the 1st of August for UK fans.
The event will also feature British women's flyweight star Dakota Ditcheva taking on Denise Kielholtz.
