US 2028 Election: Next President & Winning Party Odds

Elections for the 48th President of the United States are set to be held in November of 2028, where the nation will go to the polls to decide who will succeed Donald Trump in the White House.

Trump's victory in 2024 saw him become only the second President in American history to serve non-consecutive terms in the Oval Office following Grover Cleveland, with the former real estate mogul previously serving between 2017 and 2021.

As per the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, Trump will not be permitted to run for a third term, meaning that the Republicans will be required to select a new candidate ahead of the election.

The race to replace Trump is already underway and, although neither the Republicans or Democrats have officially nominated a candidate to lead their respective parties, politicians across the country will be quietly jostling in political circles for the upcoming primary nominations.

(Odds will display when market is available)

The governor of California may not yet be the leader of the Democratic Party, however Gavin Newsom has firmly established himself of the voice of the left and chief opposition to Trump.

Newsom has had a career spanning two decades in politics, serving as the Mayor of San Francisco from 2004-2011, before being elected as the Californian governor in 2019.

Barring a dramatic shift in the political climate, the 58-year-old looks set to sweep the Democratic primaries and mount a challenge against the Republican nominee in 2028.

Newsom is the current favourite to be elected to the White House and become the 48th President of the United States.

JD Vance

(Odds will display when market is available)

Currently serving as Trump's Vice President, James David 'JD' Vance is considered by many as the heir apparent to the 'Maga' (Make American Great Again) movement.

The former Senator of Ohio has swung from former Trump critic to fierce defender of the President, and was named the 50th Vice President of the United States for Trump's second term.

Vance has risen from relative anonymity to political heavyweight in just a few short years and his conservative views will likely appeal to Republican voters looking for a continuation of Trumpian politics.

Marco Rubio

(Odds will display when market is available)

While Vance is seen as a direct successor to Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is viewed by many as a more moderate alternative for the Republican leadership.

The former Florida Senator is a career politician and served in the senate for 14 years before being named to Trump's cabinet for his second term.

Rubio launched an unsuccessful Presidential campaign in 2016 and looks certain to seek the Republican primary again in 2028.

Despite his prominent position in Trump's White House, Rubio may appeal to those in the Republican party seeking a candidate with a more traditional conservative background in the current era of divisive politics.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

(Odds will display when market is available)

36-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known by her moniker of 'AOC', is a member of the Democratic Party and U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district.

The Democratic Party is currently the favourite to win the 2028 US Presidential Election and secure a return to the White House.

Both the House and the Senate are currently held by the Republicans after their, and Trumps, sweeping return to power in 2024, following the fallout from Joe Biden's withdrawal from the re-election campaign.

The US midterms take place in November 2026 and will indicate the direction of travel and political thinking of the US public, as Trump's second term reaches the halfway stage.
