Tommy Fury hits back at Jake Paul amid rematch talks

Tommy Fury has taken to social media to address Jake Paul's claims that he turned down an offer for the pair to rematch this year.

In a week in which Tommy's older brother Tyson has dominated the headlines with the news that the long-awaited showdown between him and Anthony Joshua has finally been made official, the younger Fury and Paul have once again traded barbs.

Reports this week suggested that Fury and Paul are in talks to rematch, with the American said to be pushing for a date in December.

Paul has been out of action since December when he suffered a broken jaw in a sixth-round KO defeat by Joshua in Miami, Florida.

He has since undergone two surgeries and, despite announcing plans to pursue a career in the NFL, is set on returning to the ring.

Fury became the first man to defeat the polarising social media star in his foray into boxing, claiming a split decision win in February 2023 despite Paul scoring a knockdown in the eighth round.

Earlier this week John Fury claimed that while an offer worth in excess of $10million (£7.5m) had been on the table, a deal had not materialised as his son already has a fight lined up for the end of the year.

Paul responded by writing on social media: "Maybe realize there is a reason your brother doesn’t have daddy as his career guide."

Speaking on the comments Fury defended his outspoken father's comments and insisted he will be willing to rematch Paul early in 2027.

"I just wanted to come on here and address a few things that Jake Paul and his team have been saying recently," Fury said.

"I’m very lucky to have my dad on my side because he’s made me multimillions without even a black eye. So I don’t think that’s too bad business.

"And Nikisa [Badarian - Paul's manager], it’s very not businessmanlike to be thrown around false comments on the internet. You were sat in that room with everybody and they agreed everything by the day.

"You know I’ve got stuff to do in December. Anytime after that, January, February, March, April, May, Jake Paul can have it. I’ll bust him again, just like in the 1st time with one hand.

"So I’ll see you boys next year if you’re serious about the fight."

Fury's comments appear to indicate that he will feature on the Misfits Boxing end-of-year Misfits Mania event on 5 December.

While an opponent for that event has yet to be announced, Fury has previously gone back and forth with current Misfits heavyweight champion Chase DeMoor regarding a potential showdown.
