Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally lock horns in one of the most highly-anticipated fights in British boxing history this December.

Speculation has been rife for the best part of a year that the pair were finally ready to settle their differences inside the ring, and now, after plenty of twists and turns, official confirmation has come.

After so many near-misses and cancellations in the past, fight fans would have been forgiven for questioning whether the dust-up would actually ever take place.

Burt thankfully, despite the recent saga over the venue -- a dispute that threatened to see the showdown canned once more -- the fight is now set in stone, with the pair scheduled to trade leather for the first time in the Welsh capital in the build-up to Christmas.

There's no doubt that both fighters have gone through the ringer in recent years.

Fury and Joshua have been bamboozled by the pound-for-pound sensation Oleksandr Usyk and both have recovered from successive losses against the Ukrainian with largely underwhelming victories.

It's Fury though who appears to have the ever so slight edge, with the Morecambe man installed as the narrow pre-fight favourite.

There wasn't an enormous amount to take from his lopsided victory over the well past it Mariusz Wach in July, with the veteran Pole retiring on his stool at the end of the seventh round.

There was undoubtedly far more to take from Joshua's victory over the previously unbeaten Kristian Prenga 24 hours later though, after the Briton climbed off the canvas to stop the Albanian in the second round.

The ghosts that had haunted the former two-time blue-riband division titlist in the past were back to haunt him once more; only this time he was able to survive being floored twice to land a devastating stoppage victory.
